The first body was found along the River Walk. A second body was found at the museum. Both bodies had been posed a certain way that led Detective Erik Miller to believe that the killer was making some kind of a statement, though he didn't know what that statement might be. When a small package arrives at the Manchester Police Department addressed to Detective Miller, it contains a poem that promises another victim will soon be left somewhere in the city, and a note that taunts the detective. Miller now has a serial killer on his hands. The bodies are being posed and the poems and taunting notes are clues to why the killer is killing women. Miller just has to understand what it all means. Detective Kristen Day is assigned to the case to help Miller. As the body count increases, they come to understand just what it is The Universal Killer is doing, and that a woman, Megan the Roach, may be the key to stopping the madness. And why, in the taunting notes from the killer, is Detective Mi...
I have always enjoyed a good story. For many years I published and wrote stories about the local sports teams and entertainment groups in the section of New Hampshire where I live. Now that I am retired, I have turned my enjoyment of the written word to writing novels that have real, everyday people, facing adversity from very bad situations and dangerous bad guys. My first novel, THE TWINS, uses the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center as a plot device for conspiracy theorists. My second novel, GIRVAN, takes a centuries old Scottish legend and brings the horror of it to a late 20th century town in New Hampshire. LEOPOLD CHRIST {rhymes with list} begins with the discovery of bones in a cave in France and the appearance of the mysterious Leopold Christ who knows all about those bones from thousands of years ago. Written during the pandemic, I used the story as a means to convey the frustration of the older person with a younger person who will not believe what he is being told even with the facts that are presented to him. THE SONS OF ABRAHAM is set in a small New Hampshire town during the mid to late 1950's. The good twin Isaac and the evil twin Ishmael. Read it the first time and it is a thriller. Read it a second time and it is a horror. THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF ANNIE BROOKS is the story of retired schoolteacher Annie Brooks who lives on Cape Cod. Every morning she walks the beach by her home and during these walks she reflects on her life, sometimes the good things that happened to her but all too often the disappointments that she has endured and the secrets that no one knows. Into her life comes Laura Kingston, a younger woman. She, too, has secrets. And that is all I will say about those two. In each book, ordinary people find themselves in extraordinary circumstances that place them in danger. I enjoy thrillers, soft sci-fi, mystery and realistic horror. In my early teens, I particularly enjoyed Ian Fleming, Agatha Christie, Jules Verne. In later years, I have enjoyed early Cussler, early Jack Higgins, Forsyth, Grisham, Robert Parker, Cruz Smith among others. Fun stories, with strong characters and not a lot of things that got in the way of that story.
