The Disappointment of Annie Brooks

Annie Brooks is a retired schoolteacher who has lived in a beachfront home on Cape Cod her entire life. Every morning Annie takes a walk along the water's edge to begin her day, not for exercise, but for contemplation and honest reflection. All too often, that reflection is weighted in regret and disappointment. Disappointment of family and friends, and regrets in the choice of paths taken in her sixty years. Mistakes that she cannot make amends for, decisions from the past that cannot be altered. Into her life enters a reporter for the local rag, Laura Kingston, who wants to interview Annie for the paper, an article lauding the thirty years of public service that Annie has given to the town. During their talks, secrets from almost forty years before become known and mysteries long hidden are revealed. And what of Laura Kingston? What secrets might she be hiding?
